Angelamia Bachemin is a former professor of music at the Berklee College of Music, who'd moved back to her roots in New Orleans just before Katrina. When the storm hit, she lost everything - all her instruments, and her house was flooded.
In December of 2006, NOWAC and Kenyon Woodworking of Jamaica Plain, MA took a complete kitchen - cabinets and counter tops - down to her house, and installed it. The materials were all donated by various Boston firms, including Atlantic Plywood of Woburn, MA, Boston ReStore of Dorchester, MA and Yarr Builders of Cambridge, MA. The builders of the kitchen in Boston, as well as the team (from Kenyon Woodworking) that went down to install it, all donated their labor.
The following images are before and after images, with comments by Angelamia.
